Yo Cocino Latino

Yo Cocino Latino: A New Spanish-Language Cookbook of Latin Flavors

Hi everyone,

I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe during these unpredictable times. This year has brought unexpected challenges, but I’m pleased to share some joyful news: I’ve published my first cookbook in Spanish, created together with four of my favorite food bloggers. The project has been a labor of love and community, and I’m excited to finally introduce it to you.

The cookbook, titled Yo Cocino Latino (I Cook Latin Food), brings together authentic, approachable recipes and practical cooking tips rooted in Latin American traditions. My co-authors and friends—Vero from La Cocina de Vero, Clara from Simple by Clara, Alejandra from Piloncillo & Vainilla, and Laylita from Recetas de Laylita—contributed signature dishes and family-tested techniques representing Cuban, Mexican, Dominican, Colombian, and Ecuadorian cuisines. Each of us shares not only recipes but also personal stories and helpful guidance to make these dishes accessible at home.

Inside Yo Cocino Latino you’ll find a wide range of recipes, from classic comfort foods to fresh, modern takes on Latin staples. We included family favorites and weekday meals, clear step-by-step directions, ingredient notes, and tips for adapting recipes to what you have on hand. The book also features several international-inspired dishes and a selection of vegan recipes for readers seeking plant-based options that still celebrate Latin flavors.

We designed the cookbook to be practical and inspiring. Whether you’re a confident cook looking to expand your repertoire or someone just beginning to explore Latin cuisine, the book aims to make each recipe doable and rewarding. You’ll learn techniques for building flavor, how to balance spices and herbs, and ways to prepare components ahead of time to simplify dinner on busy nights. The goal is to help you cook with confidence while keeping authenticity and taste at the forefront.

The cookbook is available for pre-order now and has a release date of February 23, 2021. From my experience, pre-ordering is one of the most meaningful ways readers can support authors. Pre-orders help publishers and retailers gauge demand, which can influence print quantities and distribution. For an independent or collaborative project like this one, early support makes a real difference in getting the book into more homes and bookstores.

If you speak Spanish, are learning Spanish, or know someone who would enjoy a Spanish-language collection of Latin recipes, Yo Cocino Latino is intended to be both a useful kitchen companion and a celebration of our shared food traditions. Please consider pre-ordering through the publisher or your preferred bookseller to help ensure the book reaches as many readers as possible.

Beyond pre-orders, simple acts of support—sharing the news with friends and family, recommending the book to your local bookstore, or posting about it on social media—help amplify its reach. Our hope is that Yo Cocino Latino will inspire home cooks to try new dishes, reconnect with familiar flavors, and enjoy the process of preparing food that nourishes both body and spirit.

Thank you so much for your continued encouragement and for supporting independent food writers and creators. Your enthusiasm has made this collaboration possible, and I’m truly grateful to be able to share these recipes with you.

Con cariño,

Erica
