A refreshing non-alcoholic sangria made with fresh juices, juicy fruit pieces and sparkling water — a perfect cool-down for hot summer days.

Sangria season is here, and this virgin version captures all the bright, fruity flavours of the classic without the alcohol. It’s light, hydrating and simple to prepare, so you can enjoy it throughout a warm afternoon without worrying about a heavy head the next day.
This mock sangria blends red grape, cranberry and orange juices with a generous mix of chopped fruit. The juices infuse their flavours into the fruit pieces, creating a glassful of juicy bites you can spoon out and enjoy after drinking the liquid — it’s one of my favourite parts.

Because this drink is alcohol-free, it’s more hydrating than the original and works wonderfully as a daytime refresher, a family-friendly party drink, or a light offering to serve alongside a summer meal.

How to make a non-alcoholic sangria
Choose your fruit juices
For a balanced flavour, use a combination of red grape juice, cranberry juice and orange juice. Grape juice gives body and a wine-like depth, cranberry adds a pleasant tartness, and orange juice brings brightness. Apple juice can also work well if you prefer a milder, sweeter base.
Pick your chopped fruits
Chopped fruit is the heart of this drink. I like a mix of apples, orange slices, strawberries and lemon slices for colour, texture and variety. Use whatever is ripe and in season — peaches, cherries, pears or berries all make excellent additions. Aim for a mix of firm and juicy fruits so they hold up in the liquid.
Optional cinnamon infusion
A cinnamon stick added to the juice as it infuses will introduce a warm, aromatic note reminiscent of traditional sangria. Let the cinnamon steep for at least a couple of hours, or for best results, overnight in the fridge. Remove the stick before serving if you prefer a cleaner presentation.
Add sparkle with soda water
Just before serving, stir in chilled soda water or sparkling water for a light fizz. This lifts the flavours and gives the drink a crisp finish. If you want a slightly sweeter edge, use a lightly sweetened sparkling beverage sparingly, or keep it plain for a refreshing, low-calorie version.
