Fresh Herb Ranch Dip for Fried Chicken

Anyone who says parenting gets easier as kids grow older probably hasn’t lived through the changing demands of family life. Yes, my kids are potty trained and can get a drink from the fridge, but as they grow the schedule, expectations and logistics change. Between school activities, friends’ events and weekend plans, I find myself driving all over town some days. They can dress themselves—thankfully—but clothes suddenly matter more, and their preferences affect our plans. I don’t run every aspect of their day anymore; we all navigate a shared routine, and that’s part of being a parent.

Because of that busy life, I try to keep meals simple but enjoyable. I like having everyone around the table, even when time is short. On hectic nights I’ll call it “forage night,” meaning we pull together leftovers, raid the pantry, or thaw something quick from the freezer. It’s not always about a perfectly planned dinner; it’s about gathering and sharing time together.

Tyson Chicken Fries are now a staple in our freezer because they’re fast, easy and delicious. They cook quickly and are fun to eat, which my kids love. We often use them in a casual snack-style dinner, but they’re versatile enough for after-school nibbling, lunch, or even a party appetizer. Add a favorite dipping sauce and you’re set—at our house, that sauce is always ranch.

Homemade ranch dressing with fresh herbs makes a huge difference. When I pick chives, parsley and dill from my little herb garden, the flavor is brighter and fresher than anything from a bottle. A simple, herb-forward ranch pairs perfectly with crispy chicken fries and turns a quick meal into something memorable.
